Why are their tails so curly?
Seahorses have unique curly tails that can grab on to seaweed, corals or other objects for anchoring. We call this kind of tail prehensile, meaning it can wrap around and grab things, like a monkey’s tail. The curly shape, along with strong muscles, make this tail perfect for grabbing. Seahorses will also use their tail to grasp their mate in greeting rituals and reproduction.
