You can get involved

Clean up a stream So maybe you don't want to become anadromous yourself, but maybe you are still concerned about anadromous fishes. That's not surprising; these fish are in a difficult position. Like frogs, anadromous fishes split their time between two habitats. This means fish like salmon and shad must face all of the challenges of living in fresh water lakes and rivers plus all of the challenges of living in the ocean and estuaries. Since anadromous fishes spend time in different habitats, they are a good warning system for problems that may be occurring in our environment. Just like frogs, salmon and other anadromous species make good bio-indicators.
